Deserted by his mother, JC spends his school holidays at her old family home - a tropical estate named Christobel. There too is his brother August, his stepfather Marcus and Marcus's new wife Justine.Upon arriving at Christobel, Justine suffers from a strange distress, driven to attempt suicide. Marcus fears for her sanity and turns to his psychologist brother Stefan, for help. Stefan Leyland is not convinced that Justine is mad - her anguish and JC's terror hold similar elements.
